I bought a Sega Mega Drive Model 2 from a friend last week for about $40 with 4 games and two controllers. When i was playing some Sonic 1 i got these weird sound effects. It was okey 95% of the time but some times when i jumped with Sonic the game went silent or made this Stop and start sound fast. It was quite annoying because it could happen up to four times on the first level. I also have a Model 1 Mega Drive and had the Sonic Game since then. Both work fine. Sonic 1 Worked 100% on the Model 1.

Any tips on what the problem can be and how to fix it?

Thanks.

if you can take your sega genesis model 2 apart and give it a good cleaning especially to the motherboard, usually you can air it out, or you can buy the chemtronics circuit board cleaner
