Just to resurrect a months old topic.
Recently I had an interesting turn of events in my situation, so I might get enough time to start homebrewing again!
I'd like to pick up my beloved Saturn again (and the Master System, but the guys at Neoflash are apparently ignoring my order for a MKIII...
Here is another release for all you die-hard Saturn fans :)
This is a port of REminiscence by cyx, an engine to play Flashback (see Mobygames) by Delphine software.
The engine requires you to have the datafiles from the pc version of the game.
You can grab binaries and sources here.
Some...
yeah, flashback is a great game imho.
Anyway i need to correct you: i just ported the engines, not written them :-)
The original author (cyx) must get full credit for that!
He is the author of RAW too, and being REminiscence (the Flashback engine) structure very similar, i had an easy time...
I've decided to release my latest port, while waiting for the C4 results:
It's RAW, an interpreter for Another World (http://www.mobygames.com/game/dos/out-of-this-world) game data, so you can play it on your Sega Saturn.
This port is not part of the contest (i coded it in the last weeks), so...
Can't wait for the results :)
Also, there are some important changes to my entry that didn't make it into the version i submitted for the contest that i'd like to release.
Today i recovered (another) PAL saturn and decided to give this mod a shot.
To be fair instead of putting there a switch, i just connected the two solder pads (50hz gives me the headaches :-( ) to simply go 60hz all the time.
Worked like a charm, i didn't even had to remove the shielding...
I noticed another strange behaviour:
If the adapter and the par cart are plugged in a pal saturn, i've got enough time to upload a binary before the keyboard hangs, on a ntsc saturn, it hangs even before the par screen appears!
That would be very helpful!
I've tried flashing my PAR from 2.01 to 2.02 (the one in the SGM CD), but to no avail :-(
I use the cart only for developing, so as long as the firmware supports binary uploading, i'm set!
Hi everyone!
Yesterday i finally got my Saturn Keyboard Adapter, i connected it to my saturn immediately, hoping to start coding kb support for my homebrew app right away, but i ran into a pretty serious problem: my PAR cart doesn't cope well with the keyboard adapter.
If i start a homebrew...
Thanks vbt!
I finally got near-perfect audio in sarien using SBL seamless branching!
Now i need to do some cleanup to the code, add keyboard support and then the Saturn will have its own AGI interpreter :D
