Need help finding 64 pin chip

Three solder points on what? Are you talking about the installation instructions?

The instructions shows the different points to solder to depending on what model of Saturn you have, either with a 32 pin chip or a 64 pin chip.

Both types need a power wire attached to 5 volts.

If you have a saturn with the 32 pin chip you attach it to the 3rd pin from the right (which technically speaking is pin 14)

OR

If you have a saturn with the 64 pin chip you attach it to the 8th pin. The pin numbers should be clearly displayed on the PCB.

I highly recommend not soldering to the 64 pin chip unless you are very confident. I have a broken Saturn at home which can testify to this. I took my second one down to the local electrics place and they did it for £5. I wish I'd done that in the first place.

Heed my warning *wags finger*

I stuffed up the soldering of a 64 pin IC myself.

They're smaller than you think...

MyName is you now have a working modded 64pin saturn can you confirm that it is the 8th pin down on left side of the chip (if you are looking at the saturn side on of course) so that when I go pick up another saturn I can make sure they solder onto the correct chip?

ok well luckily i have a 32 pin chip if anyone wants pics of my installation id be happy too take some with my digi cam

JonnyCasino, I got a new Saturn but when it came it turned out to be the 32 pin one (and in much better condition than my old one, only cost £4!!), so I can't help you with it. I remember reading somewhere that so long as it's soldered cleanly it will work on no.8 or no.56 but this might be untrue, I don't know. Sorry..

No probs Im gonna go to the shop and say that Im definitely buying 1, which I am and if itd be at possible for me to me to look inside the ones they have first since they are all 2nd hand Im hoping that'll be ok.
