Has anyone ever installed a mod and had the cd spin sluggishly/slowdown or had it only boot games rarely?

I bought a modded saturn from someone and hooked it up and put an origional inside.... it makes alot of sqeaky noises and the cd slows down at times.... NO games will boot.... Once in a while it will spin fine (Like, 1 out of 100 times -_-) but most of the time it screws up.... what do you think...

I just took my saturn apart to clean it up a bit. there is this small grey ribbon that comes off the side of the laser unit. where is this supposed to go? i forgot where it went.
