Modchip question (20 vs 21 pin related)

I don't know any places to get other kind of modchips, I don't seem to find anything when I look.....

Modchip question (20 vs 21 pin related)

http://www.robwebb1.plus.com/saturn/saturnchipguide_2.htm I plan on buying such modchip from consolegoods.co.uk and my saturns are all 20 pins.... I was wondering if anyone has used such modchip for 20 pin drives after some pinout changes ? I just want some reassuring words, but if I get...

Sound Problems (only getting limited 8-bitish sound)

what seems to be described is dead capacitors that have dried out, particulary ones on YM2612 audio lines. MD does indeed have functionally identical chip in it to what makes sound in SMS.

SNES music done on the Genesis!

I wonder what a reaction of some die-hard SNES fanboy is when he/she hears that Guile song or something else I've made :P Ristar is one game which shows how nice MD can sound.... realtime generated waveforms FTW

SNES music done on the Genesis!

I am not going to make a remake, but that song can be done more or less identical to original on MD, maybe except for percussion and other samples since those are full software on MD, no help from HW... YM2612 and YM2151 are more or less same, 2151 has 2 more channels and more LFO options...

SNES music done on the Genesis!

That is what YM2612 in MD can do... there's very minor difference between VOPM ands YM2612. Here's something I did a while ago, point was to put SNES into shame, lol http://8bitcollective.com/music/TmEE/Guile+Theme/ Recorded off my sound modded MD2, if anyone wants a BIN (for emulators...

Saturn boot cartridge (for Police Officer Smith)

See the year number on the cart.... it has been in use since 2006 !!! It got the EEPROM mapper in 2007... the cart has had some few thousand writes and its a vital part in my MD dev and general MD based entertainment needs, lol Since its 32Mbit, it runs nearly all games. And that link is...

Saturn boot cartridge (for Police Officer Smith)

These 3 chips dangling on wires are an EEPROM mapper, for games saves for the MD game I'm making (and for which I make a sequel on Saturn, which is going to be a cart game, and thanks to you, it will go simpler :D). There's 2x Flash chips there, there's 1 under the one on adaptor you can see. I...

Saturn boot cartridge (for Police Officer Smith)

Acetone will temporairly help since the oxide layer will return very shortly... adding another layer will not help since the oxide layer will return shortly. Only best option is to scrape or sand the layer off. I never tin the cart edges or controller board button contact points, all of...

Having the pinout now is lovely none the less :D

Saturn boot cartridge (for Police Officer Smith)

And somebody beat me to it, hahahahaaa :P Extremely awesome work man :D I'd love to see some schematic now :3 one reasons the Action Replay carts work poorly is because the cart edge contacts are tinned, and the oxide layer that forms on the tin is not very optimal. I scraped the tin coat...

    Pro Action Replay software ?

My C knowledge sucks, and if I understood correctly, the first bit is what matters in the status port, right ? (I'm ASM and QB45 guy, lol)

    Pro Action Replay software ?

    I have a question, the card uses 2 addresses (well, 4). 3x0 (+3x1), 3x2 (+3x3), what do they do ?

    Pro Action Replay software ?

These are some nice pics :D I'll try to work out something in nearer future, probably at work since I hav nothing too much to do there :P

    Pro Action Replay software ?

That information you just provided is total awesomness. I'll try to work out a schematic based on it and few other things, and hopefully it would be a working design :) Scans of the card can and will help a lot, it would be highly appreciated. I'm not too worried about PAL contents, I'm quite...
