    Save Game Metadata Questions

save_id is an extra feature of Gamer's Cartridge to revision history of saves (for example, to recover a save that was deleted or overwritten), so in normal usage setting it always to zero should be fine.

    Save Game Metadata Questions

I don't think that there is a game requiring correct metadata to work, but there's maybe a weird case of game using language field to store save data (Bug IIRC, but I may be wrong) and generally speaking it's better to keep metadata as for example comment of a save may give some information...

    Ninpen Manmaru English Patched?

Legally speaking, only uploading a patch of what is modified from original contents is allowed. But since that there are folks selling physical copies of translated games (for Ninpen Manmaru and many other other games too), I personally consider uploading a pre-patched disc image as a "bad but...

Save Game Extractor: Backup Saves Via Audio

It's good you could find an appropriate compression algorithm. Let's hope that it will help to contribute to dump even more save data :) Regarding the 256KB limit, it is written in a SEGA technical doc (I don't remember which one) and AFAIK there's no game reaching such upper limit, but...

Save Game Extractor: Backup Saves Via Audio

With Tamagotchi Park save, I did a "raw" dump of first 1MB from CS-1 space, and that 1MB ... fitted into internal memory (32KB) after compression. Because Tamagotchi Park save data is full of 00h, that's a champion result, but in typical case it's not negligible. BTW, the saves I received...

[Saturn] Tamagotchi Park - save game restore/dump?

@malenko Roger, I will test if the save works and shall let you know about the result after that ...

Save Game Extractor: Backup Saves Via Audio

    Total is around 133KB : 5,056 SEGARALLY_0.RAW 29,440 TEITOKU3_01.RAW 40,356 TEITOKU3_02.RAW 40,356 TEITOKU3_03.RAW 1,888 T_FORCEV_00.RAW 19,964 WAD_MAPS_00.RAW And I was told to wait for 15 hours to receive another save ^^ So adding compression may help a lot.

[Saturn] Tamagotchi Park - save game restore/dump?

Good luck in adding compression. Basically anything better than RLE should be fine, so you can for example use bzip2 because it was added in Rockin'-B Save Data Manager, hence shall be easy to merge into SGEX.

Save Game Extractor: Backup Saves Via Audio

Someone just emailed me saves dumped with SGEX, and this was a pleasure for me to add them to Pseudo Saturn Kai' Save Data Manager :) Thank you for the amazing project !

[Saturn] Tamagotchi Park - save game restore/dump?

I just dumped it today, and malenko shall verify if dumped save data works correctly or not. I paid $36 to finally get this save data dumped ... to realize that this save data is full of 00h bytes. That's something like $1 per KB hence this dump costs even more than mobile phone roaming :D Joke...

Saturn CD Block ROM dumped again.

Great ! In advance, thank you for sharing :) Hmm, now that you say it, I do confirm that Pseudo Saturn is sending sectors to CDB. CD access library use this register only in read access, but writing to it actually does something. Sorry for the lack of checking on my side !

Saturn CD Block ROM dumped again.

Congratulations @Waterfuell ! You're certainly the second people having dumped CD Block ROM :) Just by curiosity, do you plan to share the analysis of the ROM, or to keep it private ? From my limited knowledge around CD Block, it's not possible to send data from SH-2 to SH-1 : in normal usage...

    Pseudo Saturn Kai official thread

Until next release I have several details to fix regarding Fenrir support and maybe some extra side features too, so please stay tuned :) Now that you say it, while it is possible to automatically select a cheat codes list according to game being loaded, the reverse (selecting a game version...

    Pseudo Saturn Kai official thread

Thank you for the report. As cheat codes handler was written from scratch (without decompiling Action Replay firmware) and that cheat cheat codes list was made from lists taken here and there and that it is not possible to tests all the cheat codes, some may not work, or make the game crashing...

    Game Saves collect project

Great, thank you for your help ! I wanted a dump of this cartridge for a long time. The only non-invasive way I know to dump saves not fitting into internal memory is to use a Indirect Dump feature with Gamer's Cartridge. One requirement is however to be able to boot CD-R when backup memory is...

    Pseudo Saturn Kai official thread

It's not directly related to Pseudo Saturn Kai itself, but I had an inquiry about how to do when even after buying a couple of cartridges it's still not possible to play games requiring expansion RAM. TL/DR : in that case (and especially when the cartridge is advertised as supporting 1M/4M...

    Pseudo Saturn Kai official thread

By the past, I could get pictures of the PCB of this kind of "ominous" ( :) ) cartridge and verify that its flash ROM size can't be larger than 32KB because A-Bus pins A15, A16 and A17 are not connected to anything on cartridge. As a consequence, Pseudo Saturn Kai (which requires a 256KB...

    IDA disassembly / projects

I know : when I took a look on Ghidra sources, I came across on Java so that ... I didn't looked more and (wrongly) considered re-using something from this project as a lost cause for me :)

    IDA disassembly / projects

Thank you for the information, @slinga :) I thought that everything in Ghidra was written in Java hence gave up it re-using code from there. But if the core is written in C++ then it may be more doable than initially thought. @nando : the "If you have to ask, you'll never know. If you know, you...

    IDA disassembly / projects

Unless I'm missing something, IDA Pro is quite a pricey software (2K$ IIRC, and the free version doesn't supports SH2 IIRC too), so even if it is powerful I can't afford a license for it. In comparison, Ghidra is really appealing, but similarly to @slinga's opinion, it's a bit painful to use...
