    Hm...  Three systems

Well, tough call all around in many ways. UNless you are planning on doing somehomebrew, or are a system completist, pass on the Jaguar, as there simply isn't much available for it. Of course, if there is a game or two in particular on the Jaguar that you simply love, then by all means track...

    Random thoughts on SEGA....

Sega is a great company that wound up killing themselves in the end. By the time they got their act together it was too late. Imagine what would have happened if SOJ and SOA had acted in union? Or if they hadn't gotten so arrogant? It still infuriates me when I hear about all the idiotic...

    Dark Wizard

You also have to have the money to support the old troops AND purchase new ones. Same goes for summoning monsters. You need to have the magic to keep the old ones and summon the new ones. It's best to keep older troops and upgrade them anyways.. more XP for them, and the more powerfull they...

a bit confused about "text dumps"

Dumping the text is one of the first steps in translating a game. Essentially, you seperate all the text in the game, from all the other stuff (Code, movies, images, etc), and "Dump" it all into file(s). After that you check to make sure it's all there, and that you don't have anything you...

    Dark Wizard

Hmm.. I usually burn in DAO, as I find that to work more often than not, but I'll try TAO next time. Right now I'm giving fireburner a shot, as CDRWin flipped out on my when it tried to send the Cue Sheet to the burner. If that doesn't work, I'll give nero another shot, and if THAT doesn't...

    Dark Wizard

That's the thing... the game itself runs fine.. just not the music. Essentially.. if I burn the raw ISO in Nero, the game runs fine, but none of the music tracks work. If I make a cue sheet to burn the ISO +MP3(or converted to wav), the game does not work at all. EG

    Dark Wizard

I used the Cue maker and loaded the cue, and tried to just load the ISO diectly, neither method owrked out. I also fogot to mention that all the MP3's check out correctly and play as they should in winamp/media player/etc. EG

    Dark Wizard

Anyone ever have trouble burning Dark Wizard for the Sega CD? I burned the game (ISO+MP3) and it plays fine, but most of the music will not play. I tried converting to WAV files and making CUE sheet for it (it didn't come with one), but neither of those methods worked. I tried burning with...

    translateing dreamcast games

Agreed. I wonder if it's possible to directly read and write memory while a game is running using a coder's cable/bba. Something like an AR/Commlink setup. If so, I can easily see how one could hack a DC game. Yes, it is.. I've seen it done before.... although I don't know the logistics of...

    translateing dreamcast games

I'm not a smartass.. I'm a wiseass! Get it right! But, as I said.. it does take more know how to start changing the code. It's really not all that hard to get the text out if you know what you are lookign for, and if you have REALLY delved into it, it shouldn't be a huge leap to change more...

    translateing dreamcast games

Heh, that takes just a tad bit more skill than dumping/translating text! But, if you are doing a real professional quality translation, that would be the best bet in situations where you run into that limitation. I'm sure there is a generic toolset for peopel that want to do stuff like this...

    translateing dreamcast games

The how of it really isn't that hard in theory. Simply dump the text of the game and translate it... now, actally DOING that is harder. Some games keep all their text in a few files that can simply be translated. Other games have the text embedded within other files, and some do both. Which...

    Evil Seller/Trader

----------Radio Edit----------- All came well, it's all good! A bit late, but they tossed in an extra Saturn game so I can't really complain about it! EG

    Evil Seller/Trader

Has anyone had issues buying from litespeedcomputers.com, you know the one linked via the SegaStore on the side? I placed an order, the money was withdrawn from my account, and I have yet to recieve it. I e-mailed them about it, but have yet to get a reply to the e-mail. I wouldn't call them a...

    Shining the Holy Ark

It's not one large dungeon, it is several seperate dungeons. Yu have towns, NPC's and some decent character development. All in all, it was one of the better Saturn games, and it was very high on my list... if only it had been longer or had a direct sequel... ah well. It is part of the...

    Question

I care about the resource itself... it's nt easy for people to find some of the older games out there. This was, to some, a great resource to share those older games, to others it was just a place to score free games. I'd like to either find, or set up, a place to share the old games again...

    Question

Well, after reading that entire 8 page thread.. I must say it was rather... useless. Nobody made ANY commitments about what is acceptable, a couple of solutions were made, one was shot down. Two sites were mentioned, one by Zziggy00, and both on .tk, nither of which are working right now, so I...

    Question

Well, since the FTP section is gone to the great big messageboard in the sky, and looks to be lingering there for a long time, if not forever... Would it be alright to create a Msg board, Yahoo group, whatever, as a spinoff to host those people that still desire to share what they have? If...

    Question about site

Anyone used thegametrader.com? They seem to have a good selection of stuff, and say they can get just about anything in stock eventually. Prices aren't bad... and I'm thinking of sending my Sega Cd, and possibly Turbo Xpress to get rapaired (they have a repair service), but would like to know...
