What's the "pink screen of death"?

I've tried it on two different TVs, and used different cables. It must be the VDP. Also, I know because they're just regular storebought NTSC games in a NTSC console.

I just got my Sega CD out of the closet and am having similar problems. The most likely reason is you're not using a Sega AC adaptor. it sounds weird, but universal adaptors don't have enough power. I am pretty sure it NEEDS 10v, even though the bottom of the Sega CD says its rated as 9.

Anyone had this problem? The color is all out of whack, either B+W or wrong. It's not a PAL/NTSC problem, it just seems broken. Any ideas?

I read somewhere that you can make a territory switch for Sega CD like you can for Genesis. Does anyone know how? Please help.
