Is it OK to use the 3DO controller on the Genesis?
I came home to discover my wife had pulled out the 3DO controller to use on my genesis. She insists it's a genesis controller, and claims that it worked fine.
I looked up on a 3DO FAQ and it says that the other way around, using a genesis controller on a 3DO, could damage both the controller and the 3DO. So obviously I'm concerned about using a 3DO controller on a genesis.
But I'm thinking that maybe the only reason it's bad to use a genesis controller on a 3DO is because the 3DO sends an audio signal on one of the pins (since the 3DO controller has a headphone jack). Since the Genesis doesn't do anything like that, it's probably safe.
Are there 3DO and Genesis controllers really button-for-button compatible other than that?
