Found this mp3 over at overclocked remix, been listening to it alot lately:

It's a remix of the stage 4 theme- really nice job. To be honest I think I lot of remixes on that site are junk, but you won't be disappointed with this one. Just thought I'd share.

I Like the Streets of Rage Wah Wah one.

The Panzer Dragoon Orta Remix, more then a Weapon is also a great remix.

Although I agree that most remixes seem to butcher the original and sound awful.
