Hey All,
Thanks all for your help with some of my problems. I have some more questions and I'm posting some pics of my computer for help.
My specs are:
AMD Mobo, the number is something like smp800...
Dual 3 ghz processors
ATI radeon 9600
160 gig HD
WinXP Pro (no SPs)
1gig RAM
Here are some pics:
The computer is a bit cluttered... I was checking the Hard disk and I found it was only attached to two screws. Turns out it doesn't "need" any attachment screws because it's literally jammed into the slot...
Here are my questions:
1. When I do a cold boot of the computer, I get a screeching noise from the CPU fan (I think it's from the fan). Do I need to replace it? Clean it? The interior is very dusty.
2. While the computer has two processors, and it lists them in the Device manager, when I load up task manager and look at the processor consumption tab, I only see one processor. Also, when I load up the computer, it only lists on proc on startup. However, when I up the cycles in DosBox to like 30,000 it doesn't seem to take much out of the proc at all; it stays at 30% consumption. Is one of the processors busted, or am I looking in the wrong places?
3. My DVD burner is constantly accessing a CD when inserted. This actually corrupts installations and prohibits me from acessing certain games. Will disabling Auto Instert notification remedy this, or is there a problem with the cables? This is a brand new burner, so I can't fathom it being the problem?
4. I want to upgrade the graphics chip from a 9600 to an X800. But I only have a 400W PSU. Will I have to worry about power consumption?
