Would a genesis rf unit and power unit work fine on a model 1 sms?

RF yes. Power not sure. Check the ratings on the bottom of the system and on the power adapter.
if you mean sms model 1 both the rf switch and the original power source form genesis 1 console work fine on the sms, also the a/v pinouts are the same so you can use the same a/v cable (with the male 8 pin in it) from the genesis 1.
the power source tip is thicker on the genesis 1 and SMS 1 and the polarity is the same
