Evolution sim games

So besides Cubivore(GC) there is a game called Mutsu to Nohohon(GC).

Explore the world of rudimentary life forms which dwell in shallow bodies of water. Inject them with various proteins, nutrients and other life giving substances to effect their evolution.

I was wondering if this was a virtual pets sort of game. Have there been evolution sims for the PS2 or xbox?
