PAL 50/60Hz switch

The 32 pin chip.

Later models have 64( harder to add chip to) :damn:

The user Mal mentioned that you can also solder a chip to the ribbon cable instead of the chip.?

Will check this out.

:eek:wned With this mod you can either dedicate the machine to a specific region(like i have),Or you can install a 3 pole switch from any decent electrical retailer.

I mainly run Jap games as the Uk ones are really tripe :puke:

Except for Deep fear which is kind of like an underwater resident evil.

The artwork really sucks aswell with the uk games.

The boxes must be the worst in video game industry and the uk artwork was real bad :eek:wned

The Jap ones are sooo ccccoooo :smokin: :smokin: :smokin: llllllllllll.

OK, I'm getting a little confused now :)

I will mainly be using CD-Rs and Japanese original games, so I guess the best one for me is the Japanese jumpers method.

There is the ability to change the region of downloaded games before you burn them to CD-Rs right? With a program (I have that).

So let me see if I have this right:

- Joining JP1 and JP2 makes the machine 60hz and play all regions, and the modchip allows use of CD-Rs "back-ups".

The jumpers you just added above, I'm not sure what they do.

I want to join the JP1 and JP2 now, then I can put everything back inside the case until I get the modchip.

I'm unsure about what I need to do to JP1 and JP2, do I scribble over them all, or join both silver pieces in JP1 to each other (and do the same to the JP2 ones) - and I just run the pencil over them, or inbetween them? :confused

:newbie :biglaugh

OOOPPPSS,

I think i got some of the models mixed up(sorry).

The 64 pin machine was the first gen.

The 32 pin was the second gen.

I got my models mixed up, Must be from watching Baywatch this morning :yum

Thanks,

Ian.

:thumbs-up: With the 32 pin vershion you have Bocca i am not 100% shure.

Jp1 on 64 is definate.

I have 3 32 pin machines and am going to have ago this evening at full screen.

I will get this info for you asap.

Jumpers 1 and 2 will control full screen.

On the models that we have i am not shure which arrnagment they need to be altered.

With regard to altering this will probably ned just a dab of solder or a pencil etch between the joints of each jumper.

The jumper info i posted relates to how each Sat is made when it leaves the factory.

Will get info from freind this evening.

Will be back asap

Thanks Miobocca.

I just spoke to my freind on the phone and with the Sats that we have he said that it is simply a case of modding the jumpers as with the 64 pin machines.

He said that the small surface resistors between the jumpers can easily be modded(taken off).

I will comfirm this when i hack the ones that i have.

Also he said that for full screen a break in one of the tracks is needed.

This i will also check.

This way is probably better as i have 3 of the machines to experiment on and you just got your console and it minimizes the risk etc.

I bought 10 Saturns last month and had 7 off them stripped to bits.

Was amazing finding out how they tick.

Be back ASAP,

Cheers,

Ian.

OK, I joined the JP1 with a pencil as you said, put everything back together - voila, fullscreen! :D

This is with a UK PAL copy of VF2.

Hi All

Has anyone worked out how to do this with the model 1's with the seperate plug in PCB for the cd ribbon?? 1995 model

HI Miabocca,Mal.

Wow,Great.

Mal has a good point about the game being full to start with?

Did you try before and fater mia?

I really hope its done the trick for you.

I have recived full info with pics from a freind on how to do the mod.

I will try the info he has given me.

Logicaly speaking JP1 should do the trick.

The megadrive is altered with the same method,

The 64 pin Sat is the same,

So the 32 pin should theorctical be no different.

As soon as i tryed this i will let you know.

Here is a link though beforehand,

It is very good.

Not shure if you have to go the whole hog and put wiring in though,

Modding the jumpers themselves seems the easiest route. :sarcasm: :huh

Isn't the PAL version of VF2 already fullscreen (PAL optimised)?

:huh

Don't spoil my fun! ;)

Hmmm, I'm sure it had borders when I played it before opening it up.

Now I'm wondering :huh

I owe you one :cheers

Awesome

Croft and the rest of you guys rock!!

My 1995 model Va0 works in 60hz mode now after soldering jumper 1, im sure the pencil works as well. This is the model with the extra pcb, The cdrom bios seems to be 80 pin,,,

Thanks all, great way to enter a new forum :)

Thanks Miobocca,No worries dude.

Am just going to loook around the local carboot which is held in my local town on a Friday afternoon.

Forgot it was on today,

Have a look just in case theres some nice Saturns that somebody has for sale.

Will get back to trying a Saturn this evening.

I just found a VCD card in the back of one of them.

It worked a treat and the qaulity was very good,Wonder if any of the games use this.?

:auto

Also by coincidence the Planet Saturn itself is closest to to the earth that it has been for many years.

just thought i would add this bit of astronomy,Wonder if even Nasa could get past the security on the unit,Then again i doubt it. :bounce

Be back asap.

Ian.
