saturn region switch using 7404 (Hex inverter IC) any other chips i can use

the problem is these chips are getting harder and harder to find so was just wandering can i use something like these instead

If I recall correctly, I used a 7400 chip at one point... it's not an inverter, it's some other logic gate, but I think you can double up whatever it is and create an inverted output. It's been a while since I did anything with the boolean algebra crap from electronics way back in high school, so everything is fuzzy.

because the 7404 is only woring with usa and jap games

The HC and LS variants of the 7404 or 7414 should be fine. I'm not familiar with the details of the mod, but I can't think of any reason that you would need to use the bipolar 7404 specifically. However, if the mod doesn't work properly the most likely case is that you've miswired something (there are a bunch of different versions of the Saturn board and they don't all have the same layout for the region jumpers).
