    2 ribbon slot mod chip?

v7 modchips have two wires... power and ground.... that's it. I've got a box of of them here (untested). What is cool is they work (or can be modified to work) with 20-pin (MK1) saturns!

    Saturn 20/21 pins modchip

If you are intending to use it, do not assume anything. Use a multimeter or some other circuit tester (or your eyes, follow the tracks) to see if that wire is connected the power pins on the chips (i.e. Pin 14 on the PIC) Later Alex

    Saturn 20/21 pins modchip

Hi, I dont think he's talking about the Ribbon cable connectors, I think he is referring to the chips. If you look here you see a different model 20/21-pin modboard (notice it only has two chips as you describe, the PIC and the PAL), and the pictures (although fuzzy) dont show any silk...

    Saturn 20/21 pins modchip

Hi, I've taken some photographs of the modchips. These are not photo's found on the net (you ever seen them before?). You can see how the ribbon cable connectors are on the 21-pin side. They need de-soldering, moving to the other side and re-soldering (42-solders both times). Also there is a...

    Saturn 20/21 pins modchip

You dont re-solder the ribbon, you re-solder the connectors that the ribbons go into, it's impossible to get them the wrong way round. As for which track to cut on the cable going to the Saturn, it doesnt really matter, it's just the edge one. If you do the wrong side, you just move the ribbon...

    Saturn 20/21 pins modchip

I've spoken to the owner on the phone, the chips are now reserved for me. I'm getting a friend who lives in HK to pop in and buy them and post them cheaply (aka slow) to my home in the UK, and I'll ship them from there. To prevent people thinking I am going to take their money and run, I'll...

    Saturn 20/21 pins modchip

Definately count the strands in the cable, DO NOT COMPARE YOUR SATURN TO A PHOTOGRAPH ! A lot of the photos are mis-labeled, plus there are hybrid versions (look like a 21-pin, really are 20-pin etc.) I did this at first and almost bought a 21-pin only modchip. Later Alex

    Saturn 20/21 pins modchip

I bought several last week. Yes they work with 20-pin saturns BUT: they only have one set of connectors wired for 21-pin. They look nothing like the Lik-Sang / Lan-Kwai modchips, they have two ribbon cable connectors, one takes the cable from the CD unit, the other is for a small section of...

    Saturn on VGA

Nothing will look "Better" than on your TV, without post processing. The best you can hope for is "as good as". Alex

    Saturn on VGA

Just connect the Saturn directly to the SVHS or CVBS connectors on the back, if you are desparate, use the RF connector, but try one of these first. No need to "Tune in" just select the other input (SVHS/CVBS) in the software. You will of course need the correct cables. Later Alex

    Saturn on VGA

I've got a "Cheese box" the cheapest SVHS to VGA converter, and it works well, the picture is a little grainy (but then all affordable converters are), but at only 35 UKP it's price. However it does require a monitor that can sync to 50/60Hz Alex

    Saturn 20/21 pins modchip

What would be a good price?? Could you handle the de-soldering, and re-soldering of the connector? Alex

    Saturn 20/21 pins modchip

I've bought some 20/21 pin modchips from a shop in HK, for 4 USD each. Are they really that rare? If some SegaXtreme readers are interested I could try and get some more. They are a bit fiddly as they come wired for 21-pin and you have to solder off the wire connectors, and put them in the...

    Saturn Controllers on PC

It had links to some technical information about the board - the Diamond Edge3D, as it was known. [/b] I've got a 1mbyte Diamond Edge card here, the Saturn joypad adapter board, and Virtua Fighter for the PC (Edge accelerated version), the chip has NV1 on it... what are they upto now? (NV30?)...

    Swap with memory cartridge

I've just tried this on a non-modchip MK1 saturn with no cartridge. It doesnt work. It tries to search for the protection track. Either: 1) it's the blokes cartridge 2) he has a modded saturn and doesnt know it 3) he's fibbin' Alex

    Action RPG's

Action RPG's In Mario at least you HAVE control over the camera, in say Dark Savior I am dying to rotate the camera round 90' (which you can do to a point) but you cant play with the camera rotated In nights it just felt like I was playing a pseudo 2D game. I have to say autotracking is...

    Action RPG's

Action RPG's Hi, As someone who loves Action RPG's (Zelda like) and 3D platformers (Mario64, Croc, Banjo etc) I am curious to try what the saturn has to offer. I've done my homework and come up with four titles (was that all the action/RPG games for the saturn?) In what order would you...

How much do you think this is worth?

From what the others are saying, that is exactly what it was used for, archiving saved game stuff, just like a DEX drive. What was "seganet"? Later Alex
