on the laser unit looking from the front on the left side should be 4 i think orange colored potentiometers POTS for short dont mess with those instead turn the unit around and on the laser unit that actually moves should be a single POT still orange colored might be hidden by the white cable...

the microfuse is labeled as F301 and is green but since your sega cd does respond the fuse is fine as the previous posts stated clean the connectors on both the genesis and the sega cd that should fix things up nicely
