SDLoader v0.12: run binaries from SD Card and backup/restore saves

Just tried to build sdloader test iso image with ip.bin from Atlas Creator source distrib, thats is configured for 0x06004000. It succesfully boots sdloader.bin. And, if patched to 0x06010000 - it boots sdloader.iso's 0.bin. Cant say anything about multiboot, as never used it, but using ip from...

SDLoader v0.12: run binaries from SD Card and backup/restore saves

It's because included sdloader.iso image have ip and sdloader exectuable (0.bin) builded for 0x06010000. And standalone sdloader executable (sdloader.bin) builded for 0x06004000. And thats all difference between 0.bin in sdloader.iso and sdloader.bin. So, choose one binary: 0.bin (0x06010000)...

SDLoader v0.12: run binaries from SD Card and backup/restore saves

Hi, all! Dont have PAL Saturn, so, cant even test it. Would be helpful to check whats going on there with logical analyzer. Anyway, just as some sort of test, may try old obsolete sdloader versions (before any optimizations were implemented) just to check that it basically works. And sdloader...

Not .srm, but sdloader raw dump from saturn (same format used by Yabause emulator, may use it directly in Yaba based emus). And, sorry, dont remember at what stage of progress i did it, It was ~2 years ago, when i replayed this great game. I have few backups, this is earliest one, as others...

SDLoader v0.12: run binaries from SD Card and backup/restore saves

It would be hard to debug, as in my setup i cant trigger this behaviour. But lets try. First, about loader versions. You said, you launch sdloader from cd, but, in the end, what exact loader version, that loads 0mainsd binary? Do you use fresh 0.383sws cd burn or you "chainload" 0.383sws from sd...

SDLoader v0.12: run binaries from SD Card and backup/restore saves

Hi! Thank you very much. Lets try to find the cause of this error. I decided to start the search from beginning, so i downloaded the patch (SWS_sdloader_patch.zip) myself, and did this (take it as a checklist): 1. Formatted nearest available 16gb sdcard with fat32 2. Patched 0MAIN.BIN from...

SDLoader v0.12: run binaries from SD Card and backup/restore saves

In theory, yes, at least, if particualar game uses blocking cd reads like GFS_Fread - as easy as a walk in the park. Things gets tight on theory, and became complicated, if it using non blocking cd loading/streaming. Although, even in this case, it is possible (again, in theory), for example, if...

Sonic Wings Special patch for SDLoader (SDLoader 0.383sws included) As with previous game, just copy all files from (your legally owned) SWS cd to sd card preserving directory structure (to make it short, just copy VSYSSWSP folder to SD root to have in result SD:\VSYSSWSP). Patch 0MAIN.BIN, and...

Tiny update Just cleaned my hdd and found unfinished attempt to create generic patch for cd loading functions used in games ( that build with sgl libs) to reroute them to sdloader stub to allow them to work from sd card. Here is result, the chosen one was unreleased Chelnov/Atomic Runner To...

SDLoader v0.12: run binaries from SD Card and backup/restore saves

Thank you! Glad that SDloader is useful for you! And its always nice when you get things to work as you want using only spare parts you have at hands right here and right now ) For safety, maybe add schottky (anode to sdcard and pullup to 3.3v regulator, cathode to gameport, or probably, even...

SDLoader v0.12: run binaries from SD Card and backup/restore saves

Created patch for PSKAI Lite v6.483 which allow it to boot files from SD card (for example, to load SDLoader). Connect sd card to gameport2, same schematics as SDLoader, place boot.bin at SD card root. To boot it from patched PSKAI Lite, from main menu go to "Exit" and then select "Launch...

    Saturn serial loader

For sure. Right now it need huge code refactoring and cleanup as it is mix of assembly and c, with addition of some post compiling/prelinking objects patching to overcome gcc limitations to further optimize critical code for saving few cycles. And as it is constantly worked on, code get new...

    Saturn serial loader

Those already in Serial loader, N switched by lshift/rshift, thought, you checked it. Serial loader merged in SDLoader use 28Mhz instead of 26Mhz as reference clock for it internal baudrate generator, so, yes, calculations use 28 mhz correctly (checked with freqmeter). Anyway, attaching sorted...
