    Can you use this instead?

Instead of what? A comms link card? No.

    PC Comm Card

No, it is more similar to a parallel port (sends 8 bits at a time). A USB serial converter will not work, nor will a USB parallel. I had some plans to build a USB comm links (compatible with Saturn AR and CD64 and maybe even PSX) but not materialized yet.

    saturn cd protection code

Somebody had some success reading the security area with this tool: http://www.cdtool.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/ IIRC, it lets you read the EFM codes directly. The problem is then creating a cd-image which burns the security code to the correct location. That may be impossible with conventional...

    Developing under linux

By porting newlib, I mean implementing OS I/O functions that the C library uses. Of course, if all you care about is the math functions and don't need any kind of C library I/O, filesystem or OS features, then you don't need to bother with that at all. A combination of the C math library...

Like I said, you can probably find a prebuilt one. In case he wanted to build the latest toolchain himself, I gave the procedure to do that. That's 'wtf'.

    Developing under linux

That's what I do. I think the configure target was sh-unknown-coff. You maybe could find a prebuilt one somewhere though. Only build binutils and gcc, not g++ because g++ requires a libc to be built, which requires OS support. The typical procedure is to port newlib to the OS of the target...

    Parallel port AR mod

The CD64 PPA gets power from the PC parallel port. You can look at the schematic and judge for yourself whether it will work with the PAR circuit/software. http://n64.icequake.net/doc/cd64-ppa/paral...ortadaptor.html There are two errors in the schematic that I know of, both are documented there.
