Don't know if anyone here would know the answer. But I was wondering how many amps the Atari 5200 really draws. The official adapter is 11.5v 1.95amps. Does it really draw that much? I know that the Atari 2600 can work fine on a 500ma adapter, even though the official adapter is rated for like 1amp. But the atari 5200 is like an entire atari 400 computer in a box, much more complex than the 2600.
I've got another adapter that's 1A and 9V. I wondered if the circuits would operate at 9v. If the on/off transistor threshold is around 5-6V, then 9v should still work.
