Here are two new photos straight from Nintendo:

The original Game Boy Advance fits comfortably into the pocket of a backpack. The retooled Game Boy Advance SP fits into a coat pocket. Now Nintendo takes aim at the pocket of your tightest jeans with the tiny Game Boy Micro system, quite simply the smallest and sleekest Game Boy product that Nintendo has ever created. It’s thinner than a cell phone, as chic as an MP3 player and as fun as a Game Boy. In an instant it attracts attention and positions the image-conscious player as someone on the cutting edge of cool.oy Micro measures a mere 4 inches wide, 2 inches tall and 0.7 inches deep, allowing it to sit comfortably alongside today’s hippest technological gadgets. It weighs an astonishing 2.8 ounces, or about the weight of 80 paper clips. Yet Game Boy Micro has the same processing power and plays the same games as Game Boy Advance SP models, complete with standard face controls and gleaming shoulder and Start/Select buttons that literally shine.

How small's the screen? 1.5x1?

EDIT: I don't think i could play a game on a screen that small... maybe it comes packaged with a magnifying glass peripheral... what am i talking about? If Nintendo has always stayed to true to something it's their habit to sell all peripherals seperately so as to make the most money... like their idea to keep the headphone jack off of the SP...
i can just see it now "no, don't put the jack on there, we'll sell a peripheral" "OMG... that's the best idea i've ever heard, you're promoted" "but i'm the president" "then we'll make you the emperor!"

I can't wait til they come out with one that Looks like an NES controller... that'll sell big-time!
Ok, yeah.... the Big N says the screen's 2 inches... diagonal i think that is... which means that it's possibly the smallest screen to ever grace a nintendo product ever!

I think they are targeting the GB Micro to another market the more grown up market, people do play games on their cell-phones and this is probably an alternative and definitely more portable than an SP but its not intended to replace either N handheld.

Smaller than the screens of the Virtual Boy?

they should make it to where it's clear, and an insert goes behind it. that would be cool cuz you could make your own! and of course have the solid color ones as they would look the nicest.
