Hi, if I want to change the PAL 50 Hz (!) Mega Drive Model One into Genesis 60 Hz permanently, what exactly has to be done with the motherboard? Will the US games work after this modification? Also, is there any software that can patch games for possible regional problems?
Thank you.
If Genesis is limited to 80 sprites / 20 sprites - does that mean you can use up to 80 sprites without any troubles since VDP will always handle them? How about other HW then? Is Genesis VDP design the most comfortable way?

The Sprite Engine is a hardware implementation...

I was just wondering what material is used to produce such a cart. Is it just standard chips used in regular production of Genesis carts in 90s?
How about making a IDE controller that would read from regular flash chips used in USB...
I have a Terminator ISO with MP3 named correctly
when I start the ISO from the Fusion emulator, it just goes to the boot intro displaying Mega CD logo and telling me to press start
then it goes to CD player and all I can do is play audio tracks...
Can anybody help me how to adjust
1. vertical size of the screen
2. how to push picture horizontally to the right
As usually, when using RGB true signal on european TV, the picture is slightly shifted to the left. I need to push it more to the right then.
Also, Mega Drive displays (I think)...
So, in practical point of view, The Lethal Enforcers are using the maximum available. (?) Because I can see both layers and sprites being displayed at once.
Konami Genesis team rules, anyway.
I was just thinking about this playing Lethal Enforcers yesterday. I think the digitized bitmaps in the game are something like 16-coloures like.
Isn't it a bit low considering the Genesis should be able to display 64 colours at once?
I think it is perhaps not 64 colours per layer, but each...
Read the documents about Genesis first, please. Genesis VDP offers the complete priorities strategy, not only as for the sprites but for the scrolling planes including window!
It takes several full pages in the Genesis technical info fromSega to describe this complex priority system in Genesis...
Can anything be done to improve sound on the original Mega Drive II then (considering I might have a weak power supply - I think it is 10 V or 9V, do not remember now)?
You are absolutely right. Emulation is MUCH BETTER than the real hardware.
What is actually "the real hardware"? I have got a Mega Drive II but when you open it, there is not any Z80 or MC68000. You can just find some weird custom (emulation) chip labelled SEGA. So is this the real hardware you...
There is actually a very interesting project on allmighty Commodore-64 called IDE 64.

I think this is the right way - Mega Drive has always been a very portable arcade gaming system and we should not mix it with bumpy PCs. INstead I woould provide it with a massive...
Well, I am not sure about USA but here in Europe one can do anything better than simply go for RGB cable.
RGB simply blows anything out of the water. Just compare Mega Drive on antenna, then composite and finally go for RGB...
It is simply like an arcade experience - pixel perfect clean bright...
What does that mean? There is no sprite field on Saturn???
As for the Mega Drive - it is a pity they did not elaborated a more powerfull sprite capabilities, at least as Neo Geo, it would be cool to handle around 1000 sprites at once...
First of all, I am not a coder or anything like that. I just own a Mega Drive and would like to investigate some things here about its VDP compared to Saturn.
All I know is that Mega Drive VDP is unfortunately limited to sprites. I do mind it, because many great games like Gunstar Heroes have...
