A protacal DC??? Very odd, interesting!!!

Ok, i have just got 9 DCs and i had to fix them, i had one odd ball in the bunch that is like nothing i can find. It has metal peices on the processors and it has the fan made of metal but the blades. Also there is a wire linking 2 parts of the mother board. The fan connector is only 2 wires. also i can turn on this system with out the fan or controller ports hooked up and it will load the disk as long as the settings are set. I know this cant be a personal mod. It says 1998 on this mother board and says July, 1999 on the bottom (i dont know if its the orignal bottom). Also this system didnt have any problems but the fact that the fan connector is different than normal. Controller ports work from other systems on it fine. Any idea??? Im going to post Photos too really soon.

Looks like mixed salvaged parts to me! :D some one must've been salvaging used parts just to make a working unit ain't it?

I think dj898 has it on the nose... the first runs had cooling pipes and all that good stuff so it'd make sense. Maybe the case is salvaged...

from what I heard the cooling pipe wasn't that efficient and besides cost more so Sega with their infinite wisdom(NOT!) decided to ditch and go for normal fan setup... apparently with better cooling efficiency?

Ive never had a chance to look at one, but it looks more efficient than that large slab of metal they have in normal DCs.
