Is the gameshark 4 in 1 the same as the AR 4 in 1?

Supposedly, the gameshark was just the american release of the AR. So since the AR 4 in 1 can be used to play imports and do the 4mb ram, would the gameshark 4 in 1 do the same thing?

As far as I know, the "Game Shark" is strictly an AR clone in terms of hardware, meaning that it has no expansion RAM. I think the seller just put "4-in-1" on there to get more hits. I've been told that there is region bypass code in it but that you have to hold some button combo to activate it.

(and FWIW, the "4 meg of back-up memory" is almost certainly a lie, though that one can't be blamed on the seller since Interact actually claimed this on the package)
