Japanese PSP gamers get porn?

Japanese PSP owners will soon be able to purchase eight pornographic films in UMD format this summer.

Pornographic movies in PSP-friendly Universal Media Disk (UMD) format will be released in Japan this summer. Two publishers will offer a total of eight movies specifically for the PSP. Adult-content publisher GLAY'z will release five titles starting on July 8, while fellow smut-peddler H.M.P. will release three additional titles on July 16. The movies will be priced between 1,995 yen ($18) and 3,990 yen ($37).

While software releases for the PSP are subject to approval from Sony Computer Entertainment, the Sony gaming division does not hold sway over movies released for the device.

"Unlike games, we believe that UMD movies are an all-purpose media, like DVD movies. We do not control their content in the way that we do with games," commented an SCE representative in a previous interview with Impress PC Watch. "We are not in a position to know what kinds of UMD videos get released."

Some consumers are questioning Sony's decision to accept adult content publishers, and others surmise that the company has learned from the war between Betamax vs. VHS that adult-oriented movies can significantly affect the expansion of a new media format. One of the reasons for the failure of the Betamax format was the explosion of VHS porn movies: porn production was not permitted in Sony's Betamax format.

First off, I think it is important for me to say that I don't like Asian porn, they usually don't trim up, and things get a little too hairy for my taste. With that being said, I can't possibly see porn coming to US PSPs. The politicians looking for something to pass a law over will get them banned and put in a back room like porno tapes at a rental places, and that will hurt one of the key audiences of pornography, the 14-18 agegroup. However it won't affect the 35-120 demographic.... So maybe, who knows.

Heh, that's pretty good. I gotta agree, Asian porn producers just don't have the same level of professionalism. But yeah, who knows what kind of wacky incidents this will lead to on the Tokyo subway...

edit - oh, and re: porn on the GBA, some group did a demo like that. Can't think of the name right now, but it's on pouet.

I'm sorry, but IMHO, guys who prefer women shaved down there have an underlying desire for prepubescent girls. Hence, they're all potential PEDOPHILES!

um, that's the dumbest generalization i've ever heard in my life. shaving is 1) cleaner, reduces any potential smell 2) friendlier to oral sex 3) actually adds sensation to most girls down there

the only downfall is the irritiation it can cause to some girls after they shave

saying someone is a phedo because they like people to stay neat and groomed is ignorant and proves that you've probably never gone down on a girl before in your life.
