Nintendo sales numbers since the price cut

pretty impressive.

After the price cut on September 25 and the subsequent quadrupled sales, the GameCube has quickly (and, for once) become the best selling console in America, according to sales data from the week ending October 4.

Specifically, retailers indicate that the GameCube is outselling the PlayStation 2 by 20 percent, and the Xbox by 145 percent.

In the week since the price cut to 99 American boffos, Nintendo sold 61,000 GameCubes in the United States, a quantum leap from the 15,000 units in the months of August and September combined.

"I think it will be sustained (until the Holiday season)," said George Harrison, Nintendo of America senior vice president of marketing.
