Round IDE Cables

I think there is just a very slightly higher chance of data loss, but from what I've heard, it's nothing to be too worried about.

I'm actually thinking about getting some in the day or so --- so I'd like to hear some other opinions too

I wouldnt worry about them. I have been using them in my clients machines the past 6 months and they sure to look purty. No problems so far.

I've never heard of any problems *shrug* in any case, I think I'm gonna go buy some, my drive situation has gotten out of hand... 3 hard drives and 3 optical drives in a single pc tends to lead to a mess inside lol.

Just make sure you get cables that are designed rounded and aren't just chopped up flat cables; I'm not aware of any reason that rounded is intrinsically less reliable than flat, but when you start cutting up the insulation you could be affecting the characteristic impedance of the conductors etc.

Like ExCyber was saying, if they have poor insulation it can cause problems. But as long as you're not getting uber-cheap ones, you should be fine. In the future when the drives are all native SATA, it'll be a piece of cake to organize then all.
