Had my Model 2 open this evening, cleaning it up. I was having a look at the top and how quickly the lid opens. Mines old so the lid opens a bit slow and does not open all the way.
However, there's a tiny adjustment you can make so the lid opens much quicker and all the way (may be beneficial for ppl who use the swap method).
The tension spring responsible for opening the top once the button is pressed has a long arm held in place by a small plastic hook. However, there are two hooks. Move the arm to the hook directly above the bottom and the tension increases and your lid will open much quicker (and all the way).
If you unscrew the saturn and inspect the bottom of the top, you'll see exactly what I'm talking about. Look for the tension spring which is responsible for opening the lid when you press "Open".
It's a cool feature Sega added which probably gets overlooked often.
