Saturn speech

hey , im taking a college course..its a speech class..and im doing a persuasive speech...im going to do it on sega saturn  ...yeah i need information from u guys that will enough to give evidence that will convince the crowed that saturn is all good baby lol ...first of all i need why was saturn more successful in japan ? and why was saturn brought to usa not successful? and lastly what saturn advantages does it have to be alive today and solution be sucessful in america? ( ram carts, games etc) i hope u all help me out here so it be a kick ass speech thanks

Kind of an odd topic since it seems a little concentrated on our particular demographic but okay

It was more succesful in Japan for a few reasons. Marketing was much stronger there. Sega used better and more expensive marketing tecniques in Japan and it was just distirbuted on a grander scale in terms of paraphnalia and advertising.

They also released more games in Japan because they thought the games would be lost on us. This is probably true, but a good handful of games such as radiant silvergun for example, would have sold insnaley well here (this being depandant on if the marketing was better here in the first place). The culutreal aspect also came into mind. America wouldn't stand for a bunch of those hentai games that seem oh so common in Japan. With the time and money it would take to translate those types of games, it would reallyb e more of a loss to sega.

You say the saturn, after being brought here was not succesful, but this is not true. While not as successful as the playstation, it was still more or less a success. Again though, the reason it did better in japan is because of what is stated above.

And becauase of the wording on that last part I Really dont get what you mean

oh alright good tips, and on the last sentence i said sorry to confuse u but i was just saying what things or does saturn have are capable of doing better in america? like how bout the action replay plus...i would ask myself wouldnt it be better to have a ram cart for all the games..etc...hopefully u know wha i mean

I think he means, why is it successfull today in communities that support it like this one?

FTPs are a HUGE reason why the Saturn is still alive and kickin' today. The internet has really influenced the well-being of the Saturn. Due to FTPs, the games get around to places that they may have never been, had there not been FTPs set up for them. While I'm at it, be sure to mention the mod board. With the ability of the Saturn to read CDRs, and the availability of games on FTPs, the Saturn lives on.

Let's not forget about the leaked SGL. This is what homebrew is made of. Many loyal programmers have benefitted from the SGL, and that contributes to the Saturn community greatly.

Don't forget the semi-rift between SoA and SoJ. The collective company "Sega" was not working efficiently at the time of the Saturn's release. Perhaps if everyone at Sega had been on the same page the Saturn and other systems before it could have been more successful.

This site also has a backup of the old SegaBase site, which has a ton of great info on not only the Saturn but Sega's other systems as well.

Thats right. SoA was working on the 32x and SoJ was working on the Saturn. When it was clear that the 32x was a failure, SoA switchto the Saturn.
