skeleton sega saturn

i'm wondering if anyone here has a japanese skeleton sega "this is cool" saturn. were they all manufactured with a 32 pin cd board or did they vary from one type of cd board to another? (e.g: sanyo cd board, 64 pin)? with the pictures i've seen, most of them seem to have 32 pin cd boards. 😛

AFAIK they would most likely be 32 pin Saturns, but some may have Sanyo CD boards.

It's highly unlikely that they would 64 pin as those CD boards were used on earlier Saturns rather than later ones.

oh okay, let's hope it's a 32 pin saturn. anyways, mal: did you manage to solder the wire onto that pesky 7th pin? all the skeleton saturns i've seen seems to be 32 pin.

I seem to remember modding my black skeleton saturn a while ago...it worked atleast once and then stopped and I assumed it got loose and I always make an excuse to fix it...

It was a jandaman mod.

when I solder onto IC pin I normally put a thick paper with a small hole to expose the particular leg and put a dap of solder on it. Bing the wire and heat it briefly to make connection.

you will need steady hand and low power soldering iron made for IC...

I must have missed the part of this thread where someone was looking for soldering advice...

I had a look at my Sanyo CD board last night and realised that I'd tried this before, but without any luck.

The main difference between centaur2's Saturn and mine is that his Sanyo CD board didn't have a PC Trap with it and mine did.

I may give it another go at some stage, but I'm in no great hurry. :/

that's the thing. mine *came* with a pc trap board but i removed it. the mod board that works doesn't work the pc trap board connected but does without it. try many combinations and you'll see 🙂
