To bridge or not to bridge?

Ok, so everyone and their mother is asking these questions, and since I didn't see my query answered in a previous post, I thought "why not" and decided to ask for help from the pros, so here goes...

I have 2 Saturns, one the 64 pin/round button and the old school oval button one. I tried modding the 64 pin to no avail, and I tried about every permutation of solder bridges and possible connection schemes and to no avail. So my questions are as follows:

1-how can I tell what bridges to solder? How do I know if I need the 14 or 19 bridges? Is there a reliable way to tell? I have the usual MK-8000A models, do I need to crack it open to see? And if so, where should I look?

2-Why are the oval buttoned ones considered "better", is it solely due to the swap method being easier with the access light? Like many of you, I am worried about doing the swap method as I don't want to scuff up my originals, especially as the only ones I have are rare ones like Shining Force 3, Dragon Force, Guardian Heroes, Albert Odyssey etc. And since 20 pin mod chips are IMPOSSIBLE to find, is there something I am missing?

I thank you in advance for any insight that I might glean. I know there is already a substantive body of info contained in the posts already, but alas I am still confused about these points. Thanks!

Try 0014.

If that doesn't work try 0019.

If that doesn't work it sounds like you've got a mod that won't work with a 64 pin Saturn. *shrug*

Yep, I believe that it is easier to swap on a model 1 Saturn regardless of the access light. IIRC the timing of it is a little more forgiving.

If you're worried about scuffing an original when yuo do the swap trick, buy a copy of Revolution X or something similar for $5 and use that.

Nah it's just cause the consoles are better looking than the later ones. which the shiny bit at the front and stuff 😵

Plus there's the access light... and the fact that it's easier to disc-swap...

But realistically, the model 2 ones are better, being more compatible with mod chips...

Haha,i've got the best of both worlds....21 pin and a model 1.Doesn't have a mod though as I don't have the money or need to get one considering how easy the swap trick is.
