What's The Most Addictive Game You Have Ever Playe

Every heavy gamer has had at least one game that has consumed their attention.

Name yours!

Personally, I try to avoid games that are notorious for being addictive (Warcraft, MMORPGs, Sims, etc) but I do get myself hooked.

My #1 addiction of all time: Advance Wars 2 - GBA (perfect balance of simplicity and challenge)

Runners Up:

Tetris - Gameboy & PC (a natural)

Jet Grind Radio - Dreamcast (the combo of music and action wa amazing)

F-Zero GX (keep trying to top best race times)

I would have to go with Tetris (original and snes remake). My close second would be Day of Defeat, I could play that for hours.

Probably Shinobi (arc) or Rastan. I just couldn't get enough of those games, and still play them from time to time. I've also invested hundreds of hours into Quake 3 Arena and its mods. Not a big fan of tactical/'realistic' shoot 'em ups, but a good fragfest gets me going. And last but not least, Dodonpachi is an extremely addictive game that I have spent tons of time on (although I'm still not that good at it, unfortunately).

Logic Pro 2 (JAMMA)

That game had me completely in its grip. No game experience I ever had after has come close to that.

It is a (Japanese) puzzle game. If you are interested check out this. It is a public domain Gameboy game (rom) which is essentially the same. Hell, the author was inspired by Logic Pro 2 while in Japan.

I've been hooked to a lot of games and played them strait through, but they had very little replay value... RPG's like Lunar 1 and 2... and the Sonic Adventure series had me tied to them with out any breaks. I even turned down sex while I was fighting Zophar in Lunar 2!

But the game that had me hooked for a long period of time due to replay value...

it is a tie

[EDIT] I could name a hundred games from when I was kid I was more hooked too... but I was a kid then and had all the time in the world, so I don't count those.

I'm a recovering Everquest addict, twice.. once for 2years and again for 4months..

FF9 had me hooked from beginning to end.

Galaga, nuff said.

I used to stay up all night playing Shen Mue until I beat it, same with Grandia 2.

And the god of all fighting games, VF2 :bow

and many, many others...

- Road Rash series + Desert/Jungle/Urban Strike series on Genesis

- Daytona USA + Wipeout on Saturn

- Ecco + Shenmue I/II + F355 Challenge on Dreamcast
