ARG!  I love Capcom...

I realize that they have brought countless series (DAMMIT HOW DO YOU DO THE PLURAL OF SERIES?) to all of my favorite Systems... NES, SNES, Genesis, Saturn, PSX, DC, even N64... are we seeing a patern here?

Doing a brief search on Gamefaqs... I got a list of all the games that Capcom has released...

Brace yourselves for the next post...

As a matter of fact, I tried to add some things that were missing, I gave up from so many #### entries. Nobody said Gamefaqs was complete.

Err... did you guys read my last post? I said I tried to add all the ones that weren't there, but there were too many :) I may have said that the list was ALL but I didn't mean every single one. I guess I wasn't clear.

That list isn't complete...

Let's not forget PC Engine games:

Lost Worlds (forgotten worlds) SCD

Fighting Street (Street Fighter I) CD

1941 -Supergrafix

Strider SCD

Sidearms

and more...

Also the PC had street fighter I, ghosts and goblins, strider and other ones...

Dino Crisis 1, Resident Evil 2, (the first one on the pc was publshed by virgn) Mega Man X 1-4 on the PC so ya know.

er.. not quite.. megaman x2 was never released on pc. also, if i remember correctly, megaman x1 was published by gametek, who also published 'super street fighter 2 turbo,' which was a MUCH better port than 'super street fighter 2,' which was published by hi-tech. hi-tech is known for some of the crappiest ports. they ported the origianl 'street fighter' and 'street fighter 2'

oh, and hi-tech somehow acquired the rights for the name "megaman" and released their own version (not the nintendo-goodness) of 'megaman,' 'megaman 3,' and 'chip n dale.' these games have like nothing to do with the actual capcom-made games, other than teh names.

most of the psx-to-pc ports were kind of...blah. they could have done a much better job with those games. i know that for a fact because the same games were later ported to dreamcast, which actually featured cleaner graphics with more attention to details adn stuff (dino cricis, resident evil 2, resident evil 3)

did they mention 'street fighter alpha' and 'street fighter alpha 2' for pc? i actually own 'street fighter zero 2,' which felt like a rush job for more than handful of reasons...although u cant blame them because it was a port of the PSX VERSION of SFZ2, not the ARCADE VERSION. (i.e. the FMV sequences were not real-time; characters and backgrounds are missing frames; VERY similar menus)

im also pretty sure capcom did a port of super puzzle fighter 2 turbo, unless it was cancelled at the last minute or something...i remember seeing a promotion for it somewhere.

its a #### shame capcom didnt port any of the zn-based games (SF EX series; rival schools), because they are so much fun (and full of those crazy light effects) and most of pc's nowadays can handle stuff much more complicated than those.

I bought SFA2 and SPF2T for PC from Electronics Boutique a while back; both were $7.99 each ;) And you're right about SFA2 being a port of the PSX version. I tried the PSX code to get Shin Akuma and it worked. If you want to play this game on your PC, I'd recommend playing the arcade dump version with an emulator like FinalBurn or Nebula --> zero load times between rounds given that your computer is powerful enough like mine. You get Evil Ryu (and Shin Akuma via Nebula's cheat function).

Some of those zn-based games (arcade dumps) can be played with an emulator on PC. However, the last time I tried the emulator, it played hella slow on my computer since I'm still using my PII 400 / 384MB RAM / 16MB VRAM.

Don't worry about the zn emulator, the development of it was stopped due to leechers and lamers so the games don't run perfect even in a fast pc.

A MAME driver exists for ZN1/ZN2, but it's apparently incomplete and is not included in the official builds. It also (for now) uses an interpretive CPU emulator, so it would probably be quite slow anyway. Still, ZN1/ZN2 emulation is not a lost cause just because Impact is discontinued.

well i was trying to refrain myself from getting into the topic of emulators, but i guess i cant help it. in my opinion kawaks is the best cps1/2/neo emu for the mere fact it is updated more often compared to the others. and it runs slightly faster on most systems. wasnt there something like 'ace' or somethign where they tried to implement really early support of zn games?

anyway, most of the games that do run are emulated quite nicely on impactemu (in my opinion). yes, it could be better, but it runs. also in the age where tekken 2 and soul edge are emulated on computers, it's only matter of time before someone picks up the project again.

but my point was that someone could at least officially port the ex series on the pc. i think it would be moderately successful, given they port it correctly and uh make sure to polish it a little. like how microsoft ported metal gear solid, which in my opinion was the BEST psx-to-pc port so far. oh well

The only PSX to PC port I have a clear memory of playing is Megaman X4. Aside from the fact that it could have used some PC-specific tweaks (the save handling code, for example, was an obvious holdback from the PSX version - it gives you two "slots" in which you can save three games each), it was pretty smooth sailing. However, it was probably coded to be highly portable from the beginning since it was also on Saturn. Makes me wonder how much trouble it would have been for them to put X5 and X6 (which appear to make heavy use of code recycled from X4) on e.g. Dreamcast...

no mention of the 3DO port of Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo..

The most faithful port to any console to date, IMO

fact is, the PC gaming market is much riskier than the console market, and PC gamers dont generally go for the console type games.. I saw guilty gear X get a PC port in the last month (and it plays great), but thats an abhorration.. PC gamers like their quake and diablo clones, and detest using something as primitive as a joystick or gamepad to play their games..

Personally I'd rather kick back on the couch and play on the big screen.. I'm stuck in front of this monitor too much as it is..

Capcom has hands down always been my fav. gaming house.. To me the quantity means nothing compared to the quality of their games.. On pretty much every console yet they've produced the best looking and playing games in any genre.. Who better than mega man on the nes? And noones nailed a fighter the way they did with Street Fighter 2..

BTW there was no mention of the NES version of 'Willow', which was another one of my fav's from that console..

Capcom kicks ass.. nuff said.. keep em comin
