Well I think Gens is the best Genesis Emu, it works perfectly on my system even on the highest quality settings.

For the master system i use Meka and for the GG I use Kega. There is most likely a better alternative to those now, as there are only a few games I want emulated on those two.

For the snes I use ZSnes

sega master system

Meka.

Kega is a great alternative.

Fce Ultra. LoopyNES Beta is great for older computers.

Gens & Kega.

super nintendo

Zsnes.

Snes9x is well known, but the sound emulation is poor.

(watch the opening to Chrono Trigger with it, Ugh)

SNEeSe has the most accurate (& Best) sound of any Snes emulator, but the lowest compatibility. (out of Zsnes & Snes9x)

turbo grafx 16

Magic Engine.

Bgb.

game gear

Meka.

Kega is a great alternative.

Gens.

game boy color

Bgb.

If you can't get any of these on their homepage, for some reason; go to Zophar's Domain.

what about smygb (kinda 1998/99) that was a great GBC emu!

i still have it and would be willing to email it to anyone that wants to try it! [/b][/quote]

I used "No$Gmb" for all of my monochrome gameboy needs on an old 486. I think it even runs on a 386. A "pay" version is out that emulates color gameboy pretty well. I remember playing both GBC Zelda Oracles on it perfectly, and on a 486!

It was at one time my favorite emulator until I found out that the programmer is a complete ASS! Though I admire his work because he still codes on a 486 and actually optimizes his code. He has made a GBA emulator but charges $1000 for it. I wish I could try that one day.

Also for older computers "Nesticle" is the best NES emulator. It also plays well on 486s and plays lots of games. . . but if you have a faster computer you'll benefit more from a more modern emulator.

I have played and completed Mario64 on a Cyrix PR266 233Mhz with a Voodoo2 at full speed using an emulator by the name of "Corn." Though I believe Corn was only really compatible with Mario64.

. . .Cart based?? Well "StellaX" for Atari is also pretty darn good. 😛

. . I would say "Gens" for Genesis/CD/32X but that's been said enough 😉

and "ZSNES" for SNES, it also has an active development, forum, and often releases updates.

I'd say Snes9x over ZSNES.. Like ExCyber says, the sound emulation is fine now and compatability is slightly better than ZSNES. The only thing ZSNES does better is that you can use ips patches from withing the emu rather than using SnesTool or whatever.

This used to be the case, but it's fine now.

It's sound is still worse than SNEeSe & Zsnes...

Does it have 2xSai blitters or similar.

Yes.

Make sure to get the latest version 1.40, it's a huge improvement over the previous release.

You should also try SNEeSe, the sound is worth it...
