Change Mega Drive 1 to Genesis 1

Hi, if I want to change the PAL 50 Hz (!) Mega Drive Model One into Genesis 60 Hz permanently, what exactly has to be done with the motherboard? Will the US games work after this modification? Also, is there any software that can patch games for possible regional problems?

I'm pretty sure we used to have a tutorial for this. Anyone know where it disappeared to?

Yes. I think you might need to mod the system casing around the cart slot a bit too, but I don't remember.

Also, is there any software that can patch games for possible regional problems?

Not that I know of. It's not too hard to patch by hand in most cases if you know a bit of 68K assembly, though. Is there a particular game you're interested in?
