DVD and CD labeling

What is the best and safest way to label CDs and DVDs? I read that if you put labels on you can make them unbalanced and the glues can slowly eat through and damage the disk. Certain markers can also damage the disks.

So what does everyone here use?

cd's are usually fine. i use the neato cd stamper. but do not. and i repeat.....DO NOT put a label on a dvd. i have NEVER had success. your eye and the stamper might say its on straight but the laser knows differently.

Epson R200 does it at about $80 and the Epson R300 does it at about $130. I have the R200 myself, The only thing you gain with the R300 is Card Reader Slots, a mono-chrome display that doesn't give you anything you can't already get in Print Properties and the ability to add-on a little color LCD for $50 (R300M at about $180).

I agree, printable surface is BY FAR the best, but I can't find any quality CD-Rs or DVD-Rs that are printable so most of the time I do Made in Japan Fujis w/ a black Sharpie.

Until good, inexpensive printable CDs arrive, I stick with my After Burner labeling kit. It's great, and the labels are full-face. That means they go almost all the way to the center of the disc, over the clear plastic in the middle. They go great on my Fujifilm discs, I've got to watch for a good sale on more though.

Afterburner made by Avery right, those looked tempting because they had the CLEAR ones...

Plain, gloss, silver, clear, maybe a couple of others too. Comes with good easy-to-use software, but being Avery, templates for other programs either are or will become available. The kit can work with regular CD labels that aren't full-face, too, so its not like they lock you into using their stuff.
