The "+" means that it's a clever marketing ploy designed to make you think that it's better. From what I've heard it has a couple significant technical advantages, but I'd strongly recommend checking some compatibility reports to make sure that whatever you want to use the recorded discs in will work before deciding whether you want to go with +R/RW or -R/RW (note: that second one is read "dash", not "minus"; that's the clever part of naming the competing standard with a "+"...). The +RW People like to claim that theirs is vastly more compatible, but the charts I've seen don't show any overwhelming advantage.
