General Nintendo Tech Questions

I have just recently obtained two nintendo systems. I now have 2 questions:

1.

The first system is a SNES. For some reason the picture is fuzzy like there is some sort of interference. I have tried different cables and different TVs with the same results.

I have tried the multi out with an old N64 part and the RF out. Both have the same equally fuzzy image. Just as if a blender was on somewhere but not so bad.

Any suggestions or ideas of what could be causing it. Any solutions?

2.

The second system is a cool famicom clone. It looks just like a keyboard with a cart slot just above the keys. I bought it at a thrift as well. It came with no cables. I would like to try it out, but the AC in has no power label. I don't want to screw it up. Do you know what voltage I should use to power it on? Positive/negative?

A bypass capacitor might need to be replaced, or there might simply be an iffy solder joint on one of the connections to the PPU. It may also be coming from the power supply, if you have a UPS handy try plugging it into that and see if that helps, if so you might want to try replacing the AC adapter with a filtered one.

Can't say without opening it up, and even then it might be hard if there's a poorly-labeled transformer inside.

Thanks Cyber!

They case is actually transparent! But it is an obvious HK job. There is no marking on the board.

Anyway, the joystick ports are 9pin. I have no controllers to play it. I'd have to buy another bootleg famicom.

I just want to see if it works.

What I'd need to know is where the traces from the power connector go, even if the board isn't labeled a basic regulator (square package w/3 fairly thick pins) probably would be. Can't say much about a rectifier bridge or transformer if you should happen to run into those though.
