GTA III

Ok So this is kinda gay. My friend lent me his copy of gta III and I have 2k and he has xp. Ok so apprently it wont run under NT? Is this not the gayest thing ever. I mean 2k was a widely spread OS it doesnt make sense that it wouldnt run on a mainstream operating system like it.

Do you guys know any patches or anything so i can get it to run on 2k?

The game runs fine on W2K. One problem I had was that whatever movie player technology Rockstar used didn't work on my machine, so I had to remove the two intro movies. After that the program would appear to be stuck on a black screen, but pressing enter once or twice would let it continue.

update your graphics card drivers, and your directx version as well.... i'm running XP and i remember this originally happeneing to me.

well i updated direct x to 9 but i fear of updating to using the new catalyst drivers for my card becuae i hear the new ones fry the 9700/9800 series cards

3.7 Catalyst should be fine. I had Vice City running on it a while back. Not the same game but should be close enough.

Ack damnit.

I got it working and all but now the thing goes to 640x480 or somehting gay every time i go into it. even when i try to change res in the options (which cant be done in game) it plays in this ungodly low resolution.

Suggestiosn? (hehe bad spelling = teh win)
