How do you get Gens to recognize a CD drive?

Gens refuses to recognize my CD drives. I installed APSI 4.71.2 for XP and rebooted, but it still won't recognize any drives.

Any ideas?

Do any of the other emulators play better with CD drives?

Try Kega Fusion. That's also an overall more accurate Mega Drive/Genesis emulator than Gens.

Also, when playing Sega CD games, it's usually best to make an ISO from your game disc, then load it with the emulator that way, it's much more stable that way.

Definitely try Fusion I find it to be a superior program all round.

What model cdrom drives do you have?

I never had to install ASPI drivers under XP...

I played Dune on Fusion from my original game disc and it ran perfectly,

however like Ace said use an ISO mounted virtually to get around the problem entirely.

I figured it out. You have to use ASPI 4.60, not 4.71. 4.60 has better compatibility. The "forceaspi" program uses 4.60, and did the trick. Now it recognizes my mad dog ls-dvdrd tsh652m

It actually played the segacd game perfectly. Which I wasn't hoping for, actually, I'll start a new thread for that.

If you want just ISO format, you can use ImgBurn -- it's free and works great.
