Mod Issue

Okay, basics:

Domestic, round button saturn

Model mk-80000A

21 pin

64 pin IC

Jandaman's modboard

Alright, mods in... And I get a problem that I couldn't find anywhere described on this forum; a white screen and sound feedback when a game is loaded. Games work just fine without the mod in. Drive doesn't spin discs or whatever at all during this white screen bit. Suggestions? Hints? Tips? 🙂

AFAIK jandaman's modchips don't work in 64pin saturns. Atleast that's my experience.

Edit: oh and did you use the a+b mod or the standard one?

Gonna try the A + B method ASAP. And from what I've read on the forums here, Jandaman is pretty confident that his mods -do- in fact work in 64 pin saturns and people have given success stories.... I think.

having tried 3 of them myself, and having read other people not have them work in 64 pin saturns, I'm fairly confident that they don't work in 64 pin saturns. If someone would like to prove me wrong, I'd be really happy, because then we could get around to modding more saturns.

The last 64 pin mod I did, I had to take my old gamegizmo board out of my saturn and put it in there's and take the jandaman mod and put it in mine, cause I have a 32 pin saturn.

Scared0o0Rabbit, how long ago was it that you tried using a Jandaman mod in a 64 pin Saturn?

I'm just wondering if perhaps he now has a differen batch of mods that may be working...

Well, yay for me. I got a hold of an old gamegizmo mod and 4 in 1 pro action replay from my buddy who had an oval button saturn. I'm pretty positive that gamegizmo ones work. Anyone want to give me confirmation before I put it in?

Going by all reports, it should work.

Not having bought lots of mods (over a long period of time) from them I can't be sure, but all the mods that I bought from them worked fine.

The ribbon cable from the CD board to the main board has a twist in it right? If so (and it should 'cos it's a 64 pin CD board) you need to install the mod with the component side facing away from the CD board. It may seem like the ribbon cable won't be long enough, but it should just reach.

btw, has anybody tried ordering mods here

Do they look similar to the Gamegizmo or Jandaman boards? I would really like to get my white Saturn modded, but it's 64 pin :damn:

AFAIK there is no obvious physical difference between mods that will work in 64 pin Saturns and those that wont.

If you had dozens of mods to collect info from, you might be able to draw conclusions about different IC serial numbers and their compatabilty, but even that's a long shot.
