New Dreamcast!

Even though I was unable to convince myself that I needed another game system or that I had any free mony to spend, I somehow ended up getting hooked on that GameStop 30% off dreamcast deal.

14.00 System + 1 controller + AV

10.00 3 controllers + VMU + CodeBreaker

3.00 Chu-Chu Rocket

------

27.00

That wonderful catchy Japanese Chu-Chu Rocket commercial circulated my college's Anime community a couple years ago, and ever since Chu-Chu Rocket has been a household name and a personal theme song, even though we've never played the game. So pretty much the novelty of playing the infamous game was the deciding factor in falling for the dreamcast deal.

I had checked out about 3 other GameStops in MN, and they were conveniently all out of DreamCast systems during the sale (though I swear they had stacks of them before the sale). But the 2nd floor GameStop in the Mall Of America had exactly one left. But no accessories.

I don't know how useful or good the CodeBreaker is, but I pretty much bought out the 1st floor GameStop in the Mall of America. I got three more controllers since they were damn cheap (only 2$ each after discount) plus two of them have the L and R buttons doubled as C and Z buttons, which seems like a good idea, and I was pleasently suprised to discover that the DC has 4 controller ports built in. Why the shell didn't Sony think of that?

Yes, there are two GameStops in the Mall Of America... one used to be a FuncoLand.

I was in Software Etc, and they had a small selection of DC games averaging 12.99, and Chu-Chu was unmarked. I asked and it was only 2.99! Woot.

I ended up not getting the keyboard, it seemed like it was only mostly useful for internet stuff, and I don't plan on using the DC for net surfing. Are the on-line DC servers still running now that DC is technically dead, or is it impossible to play DC on-line anymore? (Not sure how that works). Are there any games that make the keyboard worthwhile?

So, what are some good DC games? Are there any good 2 or 4 player simultaneous games (where all players on local, not on-line)?

JMT.

wow...that is a damn fine deal, I wish i had some Gamestops around. $27 for the system and 4 controllers...and a game....is insane.

If you want great, free 4 player game download drxlax! Its extremely simple but fun. You can find it for download Here and the main site, with instructions, is here.

One of my favorite dreamcast 4 player games is San Fransisco rush 2049 but there are plenty of great multiplayer games to be found. It depends on what genre you like best. If you have extra $$$ and really want people to think you are crazy, buy Samba de Amigo with 2 sets of maracas 😀

There's plenty of 2-player titles (fighters such as DOA2 and Soul Calibur come to mind), but for 4-player fun, I think Powerstone has it hands down. 🙂
