Before anyone asks: TecToy is something like SEGA of Brazil...

PD

Ouch - that's nearly 65 British pounds (or $100 US!)

Is everything so expensive in Brazil? How much does a Dreamcast, PS2, X-Box or Gamecube cost, for example?

Mike

Yeah, its really expensive.

There two markets here in Brazil: the official one(Tec Toy, Nintendo of Brazil, etc), and the "alternative" one (stores who import consoles/games without paying taxes, etc).

Tec Toy sells the Dreamcast for R$600, but you can find it for less than R$300 on the import stores.

Nintendo of Brazil will start selling Game Cube for about R$1200 (you did read right), but you can find it for about R$600 on the "alternative" market.

I wonder how much Microsoft of Brazil will ask for the Xbox?

PD

...not to mention how expensive the games are.

R$ 130.0 (GBA games) up to R$ 199.0 (DC, PS2, GC, X-box games). The older DC games (the OLDER ones) go for 80-90. It's far too much when you compare to music CDs (R$ 20) or DVDs (R$ 40, new).

The prices are as follows:

GBA: R$ 300 (Nintendo officially distributed)

DC: around R$ 300 in underground stores (most are used...)

GC: R$ 600-700 (only in underground, for now. As said, will be lauched officially by *gasp* R$ 1200)

PS2: R$ 900-1200 (only in underground, might never be supported locally, as stated by Sony)

XBX: R$ 1200-1400 (same as GC, but noone knows how much M$ will ask for it).

And then they complain that there is too much piracy over here...
