Anyone know I do port forwarding? I need to set bittorrent up so it doesn't act like I am behind a firewall. The reason it says this is becasue I have a router built into my modem. my modem is a Arescom NetDSL 800 if that helps. Any help would be appreciated...thanks guys.

Most DSL modems/routers have a web or telnet interface of some sort to set up port forwarding. You'll need to access that if possible.. after that, it should be simple, but I can't give you specifics as I've never used that particular make.. I suggest you consult your manual.

heya, bet you wanted to ask me but I've been offline for a few days moving into the new house. I'll be posting my own network problem in another thread in a moment. In any case, look up what your gateway is by going into a command prompt and typing ipconfig. Then open up IE and type in the gateway address. If that doesn't get you into some kind of interface try going back to the command prompt and typing: telnet <gateway address>. One of those 2 things should get you going, if not you may just be SOL.

Edit: btw, your dsl modem is it a 2wire brand modem by any chance?

thanks for the help rabbit....I am gunna try antime's method and see if that works. If it does, hell ya. would there be a problem of viruses and stuff if I open all ports? I am running a firewall on my PC and so that should block what I want blocked correct?

Hmmmm that program didn't detect my modem :-\. Oh well I guess. On BT there is a port range on there......maybe latering this will work? anyone have any suggestions?
