Possible Price Increase on ESPN titles

Hinting at price raise here

Nothing set in stone yet, but it doesn't sound positive.

It would definately be a bad move if you ask me.

Especially since they haven't reached the full acclaim that Madden has.

They really need to gain a bit of ground before they can take on EA on grounds other than price.

If I was them, I'd introduce the new 2K6 titles at $30 instead of $20. Still far cheaper than Madden's $50-60, but a bit higher to help recover expences.

That's exactly what I was thinking when I first heard about the $20 price.

Still.... NFL 2K5, over 2 Million sold, compared to NFL 2K3 and NFL 2K4 only selling about 600,000 - 700,00 COMBINED is fucking great!

😀 :thumbs-up:

I'm interested in seeing the NBA sales. NBA 2K has always been the better seller than Live, same with NHL 2K vs NHL.

They just want to make money like every company. They tried the low price now they want to raise it to test to see if they can get away with it. I'm sure that's what they're doing. $$$$$ makes the world go round.

Darsh, perhaps you don't see what others are pointing out. They weren't "trying" a low price just to see if they'd make more money. They needed to sell the games to get people to see how good they are. They wouldn't have lowered prices to begin with if it was already a popular, well-known series. Now that they've got a better user base, they're considering raising prices again to "recover", as Vertigo put it.

I personally think it is too soon, that they need more advertising and need to really push all their sports titles. However, $30 would be a more than fair price.
