Can the ribbion circled in this picture be removed at either end?

Got it out, it was just really stiff, im going to replace the LED, and maybe add a few more

EDIT: The saturn LED's are 3.3V arnt they? And does anyone know where I can get another one of them light guides?

I believe they're 5V. At least I've added 5V access led to my US unit, and it works fine.

You will need to add a jumper to the mainboard (i'm almost sure your system don't have one) to get it working.
