I have an old MK-80000 Saturn (US, oval buttons, no mod chip or carts) and it's having trouble readings game disks.
Of the seven games I've tried so far, all but one has had some sort of problem. Sometimes I get a "drive is empty" message, which usually goes away after I turn the machine off, adjust the disk a little and try again. Some freeze at the same predictable point over and over again. Others occasionally freeze when loading a new stage/level. Now, granted, some aren't in good shape, but others are in nearly perfect condition. I can't believe that all of these disks are flawed to the point that they can't be read reliably.
What do you guys think this is? Is it a problem with the lens or the motor or something else? I blew some compressed air over the lens, but that really didn't seem to help. Should I try a lens cleaning kit (if those even work), or do I need to fiddle with stuff inside the Saturn?
