Sega CD Model 2 problems

I have a model 2 genesis and a model 2 SCD, and when connected normally, the access light does not come on, and nothing happens.{the SCD drive is missing the CD-ROM hub on the spinner but anyway) So i took it apart, cleaned the connectors on the Genesis(which had black stuff which i scraped back to copper) and used a thin piece of cardboard soaked in alchohol to clean the SCD connectors.

Still nothing.

So i took it all apart(both systems) and connected them and fiddled with it. Now i would get a White, Black, and Yellow screen on different occasions. I don't know if this means the SCD was responding or what. I could use some help right now.

OK, well its the fuse. I connected a wire to the legs of the fuse and it works fine now. So a new question: How hard is it to solder? I have never done it before, and could use a little help now.

For that its a pain. The points are small and the solder is on the top of the board not the bottom.
