A piece of Dreamcast history has been unveiled today, the NEC ARC1A PowerVR PWH-6032 prototype PCI board. This PCI board (also known as the Set 2.1 Dreamcast Development Kit) is one of the oldest prototype Dreamcast development hardware.
This PCI board can be connected to a computer running the Microsoft Windows 95 operating system and can be programmed with Microsoft Visual Studio 5.0.
It also has a VGA and video composite output ports to view demos on a television set or a computer monitor.
The Dreamcast development unit after the NEC ARC1A was the early Set 4 Katana Development box, still in prototype stages, followed by the Set 5, which includes the HKT-01 Sega Dreamcast/Katana Development Box.
The NEC ARC1A PowerVR PWH-6032 prototype PCI board can only be used with the Katana Development Software - Release 2.
