Sega Sammy Holdings have announced financial results for the first quarter, posting net losses of 5.08 billion Yen, or USD 42.3 million.

Sega Sammy's pachinko, pachislot and arcade business saw healthy sales, with 126 thousand pachislot machines sold. Revenue in the pachinko pachislot division rose to 38.2 billion Yen, up from 21.8 billion Yen in the prior year.

Seems like Sega's mostly lackluster game lineup is the main contributing factor here :/ Still.. $42.3 mil for a company of that size isn't the end of the world. Apple reported ~$700 mil loss one quarter in 1997, and they were able to turn themselves around.

Though, did Sega have a few acquisitions earlier this year from the Marvel universe? I feel like earlier this year we were debating the merits of Sega being spun off by Sammy because that was the only group that was profitable a couple quarters ago (Sammy's pachinko business took a beating).

Correct me if I'm wrong?
